In the drilling process, heavy weight DP serves as the transition from a flexible drill pipe to a rigid drill collar. It can also replace drill collars in horizontal and extended-reach wells to reduce friction. Hilong is committed to heavy weight DP quality and technological innovation, continuing to develop heavy weight DP suited for special environments and drilling conditions.

- Integral and welded heavy weight DP are manufactured through a quenching and tempering heat treatment process to improve impact toughness
- MES and ERP systems provide full information management from order to shipment, covering manufacturing, inspection, test acceptance, and complete product traceability
- Pipe body receives 100 percent FLUT (longitudinal, transverse, ultrasonic thickness measurement)
- Upset ends undergo 100 percent UT or 100 percent MPI
- Heavy weight DP tool joints and welding zones receive 100 percent UT plus 100 percent MPI
- Performance enhancement options include increased tong space for heavy weight DP tool joints, make and break, cold rolling of threads, spiral grooves on the centre wear pad, internal coating, and hardbanding
